Chelsea is on the West Side of Manhattan, south of Hell's Kitchen and the Garment District. It's north of Greenwich Village, Meatpacking District, and 14th Street.
Before WWI, it was the center for the motion picture industry. Today Chelsea is primarily residential and is known for boutique shopping, art galleries, restaurants, and nightclubs.
